Training realistically with weapons is deadly serious business. It is not a sporting endeavor. The danger is very real and all around you.

Such training is the exclusive domain of warriors – of eskrimadors and eskrimadoras – and, as far as I am concerned, if you choose to pick up a weapon and join their highly respected and disciplined ranks, you are expected to conduct yourself accordingly.

Most anybody can train in the Filipino martial arts, but those who emerge from the mediocrity of the masses by distinguishing themselves as exemplary practitioners earn the title of eskrimador or eskrimadora.
